Last Day

Well it’s finally here. My last day in the Dominican Republic. It’s a bittersweet moment. I’m excited to see my family for Christmas, but at the same time I am sad to be leaving the Dominican Republic and the friends I have made.

I accidentally ran 7.3 miles this morning because I didn’t hear my watch beep at me. I won’t be able to run tomorrow because I’ll be traveling all day. I’m proud of myself for having run every day this week though.

We left at 8 am this morning and traveled a little over 3 hours to Santo Domingo. We went to the colonial zone where we saw the first cathedral ever built in the Western Hemisphere. I did some shopping and got a souvenir for John.

Later we checked into our hotel, went swimming, ate Domino’s pizza, and Jaxon taught me how to play actual Domino’s. I’m really glad I got John that little set of Domino’s and I’m excited to play with him.

We went to a grocery store and then an ice cream shop where I drank a strawberry banana smoothie. We tried to walk to the beach but it didn’t work out because we were a little too far away. To finish up the night our whole group hung out in one of the girls hotel rooms. I just played a bunch of Domino’s.

We’re leaving the hotel at 4:30 am tomorrow. Hopefully I’ll be able to sleep some in the plane. I don’t really feel ready for Christmas, but I sure am glad I went on this trip!
