I got up early at 5:30 am again this morning and went running. This time I took my flashlight so I was able to see the whole time. I ran 6 miles in 38 minutes.

We were going to go to the market this morning, but we planned to go to a small town in Guayabal for our clinic and it was near the border of Haiti so we postponed the market for Thursday.

The bus ride was long and I slept most of the way. Guayabal is a small mountain village. We set up our clinic in a small school. The school was much nicer than the school we worked in the day before in Batey. It was painted and the room was colorful and filled with lots of pictures and paper on the wall.

I worked in Pharmacy today. I earned all of the medications and their uses. I got familiar with the typical drugs prescribed to most patients. Skyler, Jaxon, and Damon all worked with me in pharmacy. It was a lot of fun. The doctors prescribed a lot of amoxicillin suspension, amoxicillin capsules, vaginal creams, and other antibiotics that I donated. I realized how crucial it was that we got these medications. I was so glad that my dad was generous enough to donate so much because I saw it affecting/blessing people’s lives firsthand.

We saw a little over 100 people total today. Most of the village came in the morning so the afternoon wasn’t very busy at all. The town of Guayabal was just a quarter of a mile from the Haitan border.

After the drive back I laid down for a moment on my bed and fell asleep for a couple hours I was so tired. The nap was refreshing though. We walked into town and got ice cream at a small shop around 5. While we were in the shop a little boy came in with his mom and asked his mom why we were white. His mom responded with, “they are Americans.” It was funny. I got dulce de leche ice cream.

The city and Latino culture feel is very similar to Argentina. It brings back a lot of memories.

After ice cream we had a dinner of beans and rice. The food has been really good so far. A lot of fruit like papaya and pineapple, beans and rice, and various kinds of meat. The diet has a lot of fiber in it and i will probably have diarrhea soon.

After dinner we played a massive game of scum with 10 of the people from our group. It was so much fun! I made it to king at the very end and ended as king after a couple rounds. I decided to go to bed a little early so I can wake up and run in the morning. I read my scriptures every night before I go to bed.
